Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a new virus. The disease causes respiratory illness (like the flu) with symptoms such as a cough, fever, and in more severe cases, difficulty breathing.
In Brazil, there are millions of people in the favelas of Brazil. These areas of social exclusion structural underdevelopment lack effective access to the health-care system. Because of crowding, unsanitary conditions, poor nutrition, and pollution, the disease is rampant in the favelas and infant mortality rates are high.
With the “shelter place” order in Brazil, the majority of the population, that are already self-employed with very low-income, are now with absolutely zero income.
No one should go hungry during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Millions of families and children of the favela (slums) of Brazil are without any food due to the coronavirus outbreak.
